Legend of the Four Sacred Beasts【Ended】

In the past, Koxinga led his forces northward from Tainan and passed through the Xikou area (present-day surroundings of Songshan Station). When he looked out over the northern foothills of Nangang Mountain in the Taipei Basin, he discovered four ridgelines shaped remarkably like the mythical beasts of a tiger, leopard, lion, and elephant. These were later named Tiger Mountain, Leopard Mountain, Lion Mountain, and Elephant Mountain, collectively known as the “Four Beasts Mountains.”

Today, adjacent to Guangci Social Housing, Elephant Mountain is the most famous among them and is located near a metro station. It has become a popular place for photography, hiking, and leisure activities.

However, veteran treasure hunters know that the Four Beasts Mountains are not merely a geomantic treasure land in Koxinga’s eyes. According to legend, they were also where he secretly hid his assets. Koxinga inherited resources from his father, Zheng Zhilong’s armed maritime trading network, and carried out efforts to resist the Qing and restore the Ming. He is said to have concealed part of his secret treasure within the Four Beasts Mountains, entrusting the mountain spirits to guard it through regular rituals.

Now, you treasure hunters from all over Taiwan have finally, after years of joint searching, discovered these treasures—more than 20 treasure chests in total. Among them, four chests are especially unique, each originating from one of the four mountains.

Just as you are discussing how to divide the chests, the spirits of the Four Beasts Mountains suddenly appear before you. They declare:

“By order of the Zheng clan, we have hidden these secrets for many years. Now that the custodial period has ended, we have decided to let the treasure re-emerge and entrust it to those who possess the same wisdom, strength, and courage as the Zhengs. These chests before you are your trials—designed to determine who among you is worthy of the final treasure!”
